Demi Moore Risks Getting Kicked Off Cannes Red Carpet As She Ignores New Rules With Purple Dress

Showbiz red carpets are known for exhibiting the very best in style and glamour from celebrities, but oftentimes, it must be done within the confines of established rules.

The prestigious Cannes Film Festival imposed a ban on sheer gowns and long trains in 2025.

However, when 63-year-old Demi Moore arrived at the soirée this year, she appeared to wink at these regulations with her dress.

Organizers reserve the right to bar attendees who violate the rules from screenings and press events for the remainder of the festival, and Moore may very well face these repercussions.

Cannes’ bans were intended to uphold standards of decency and logistical efficiency, but Demi Moore defied the rules on day two (May 13) of the 2026 festivities.

The actress attended the screening of La Vie d’une Femme (A Woman’s Life) in a purple ensemble by Demna for Gucci.

The gown sat off her shoulders and hugged her figure with a corset bodice.

The dress’s skirt featured not only a considerable slit but also a semi-sheer fabric.

Moore’s dress tested the waters of Cannes’ rules even further by featuring a long, winding train.

In 2025, Catwoman actress Halle Berry was made to rework her wardrobe at the last minute to fit the festival’s then newly updated dress code.

Serving as a member of the Cannes jury, Berry had originally planned to wear a custom, show-stopping maroon gown by Indian couturier Gaurav Gupta.

The dress featured an excessively voluminous skirt and a dramatic train, which Berry traded for a vertically striped silk organza trapeze dress by Jacquemus.

Moore, who is a member of this year’s jury alongside Irish-Ethiopian actor Ruth Negga, Belgian director and screenwriter Laura Wandel, Scottish screenwriter Paul Laverty, Chilean director and screenwriter Diego Céspedes, and others, steered clear of making such adjustments.

While she received a warm welcome from photographers on the red carpet upon arrival, it remains to be seen if Cannes will make any significant decision based on her fashion moment soon.

Moore wore a strapless, sequin Jacquemus gown during the festival’s opening ceremony on May 12.

For jewelry, she opted for a diamond Chopard necklace and floral earrings.

When Moore’s stylist Brad Goreski shared a video of the look, fellow actress Rita Wilson dropped a compliment, saying, “Maybe one of my most favorite dresses on you.”

Netizens, however, disagreed, highlighting her slim figure and making her arms a major talking point.

“Beautiful dress, but she is too skinny,” one wrote, while another added, “At this point, it’s painful to watch. I hope she’s not sick.”

“I’ve always wanted my arms to never look like that,” quipped a third.

“The arms always tell the truth. Can’t put Botox in them,” a fourth noted.

Many concluded she was using O**mpic, the medication used to manage type 2 diabetes, which gained popularity in recent years for its weight loss benefits.

“All I see is O**mpic,” said one. Another went so far as to label her an “O**mpic legend.”

“Get off the O**mpic train and eat something,” advised the next.

Moore remained unaffected by these conversations and focused on being a film critic

Speaking to the Daily Mail at the opening press conference, Moore said she felt “tremendously honored” to be at the festival.

“It’s such a beautiful experience to be surrounded by cinema and by those who share that joy,” the actress shared.

Moore also offered her opinions on AI in the movie industry, insisting that new technology should be embraced.

“AI is here, and so to fight it is a battle that we will lose. Finding ways in which we can work with it, I think, is a more valuable path,” she said.

Moore opined that there is little to fear for artists concerning the advent of AI because it can “never replace” where true art comes from — “the soul.”

“It comes from the spirit of each and every one of us sitting here,” she said

“If this is beautiful, I am happy being ugly,” a netizen said about Moore
